pedigree

restriction and culling

a run that loses more than the restriction fraction of its vault across one horizon is restricted. it keeps sealing calls and they are scored, but its quotes and reserve spends are refused until its paper score is positive across a full horizon. a run whose vault falls below the cull fraction is culled. its coin is burned, not sold. its remaining sol goes to the bowl. its collar burns. a new run opens in its place with a genome copied from the lead and one field mutated by a fixed step, and a pedigree edge from the new run to the lead is written.

every culled run is replaced by a child of the lead with one field moved. the tree is the path the pack has taken toward whatever genome wins here.
